Assignment 3 Twin towers


The Concept of Twin Towers is from the architectural concept of Structural surrounding, where the towers creates a platform for habitation and  rotationally extrude upwards to provide semi-shelter.




Shapes are based on the butterfly like interpolate curve






Waffle Trial


I have tried waffling multiple times, but the orientation have never been successful, therefore I changed my construction to Sectioning, which fits perfectly with the artificial contouring city.

JW model


End up working the cross intersection (Waffle) method in the 123D Maker, I have divded my 3D initial into 29 planes (all coded). But after the first few trials in assembling the model, I found out how the slit fixture were too tight on each individual joints.


As a result I had to score all the slits opening to widen them, as well as slice up tracks to smoothen the plywood surface to create less friction when intersecting two planes. It was a time consuming job....

But...





The end result came out quite well.

My wall is being interpreted as a vase shaped object, where fibres on the walls morph from a circle at the base to a triangle at the top. The direction of the fibres are determined by 4 rings of shaped which loft the fibre into this fluid shape.
